Land Rover discontinued the production of its iconic Defender model in late January. However, you can now buy one of its factory-restored predecessors, the Series I, from the British company.
SEE ALSO:You can now rent an Aston Martin DB9 from EnterpriseAt the same time Land Rover announced it had built the last of the modern Defender 4x4s, it also revealed it was starting a factory restoration project of some of its most famous models under a project -- called Land Rover Classics "Reborn" -- in a workshop in the now-former Defender factory.

It, like the other 25 Series I trucks that will be restored as part of the Reborn initiative, will be a refurbished to original 1948 factory specifications using Land Rover Classic Parts.
Land Rover Series ICredit: Land RoverThe expert team won't restore just any old Series I, however. It scoured the globe looking for the best, most original examples to undergo the illustrious restoration program. They hand-picked 25 trucks and will begin mending them to customer specification.
Buyers can specify one of five period finishes, including light green, bronze green, RAF blue, dove grey and poppy red.
